I think the biggest stay-sane measure I have taken is to get the boys to nap. Every day. At the same time. It took awhile to find our groove, but for the past 4 months or so we have had great success with our napping schedule.
Wesley sleeps for 2 hours in the morning, and in that time I spend one on one time with Judah and clean up. Then in the early afternoon both boys go back down again. Sometimes they chatter to each other for awhile, but they always fall asleep and sleep anywhere from 2-4 hours.
There are very few exceptions to their napping schedule, and we are all happier people when they are consistent with their napping. And I firmly believe the better the children nap during the day, the better they will sleep at night.

Amen sister! And when they are too old for naps - maintaining quiet time is a must. I admit to allowing too much TV during quiet time, and I'd like to change that.
When my four were little, in order to stay home with them I took in babysitting children. ALL my kids - - - genetic and babysitting - - - took naps at the same time every day. It is the ONLY way to survive.
One mom phoned me and asked me to STOP giving her son a nap as he wouldn't go to bed at night.
I said, what do you mean he won't go to bed at night? You are the mom - - - PUT him in bed. If I'm going to be his babysitter, he WILL have a nap here.
She didn't take him to a new babysitter - - - -
Don't know if she ever figured out who the boss at her house was or not - - - -
:-)
I love nap time!! It's such a relaxing time for me.
You are lucky you can get them both to nap at the same time!
