Sheets

Is there a right way to fold sheets? Particularly the bottom sheet?
I am organizing closets today and that question was on my mind, so I took a break to come ask that question :)

Once my Grandma said to me;
"Jessica, do you know how to fold bottom sheets?"
Thinking she was going to tell me I said;
"No, how do you fold them?"
She said;
"Oh, I don't know. I was hoping you could tell me."

I have lived our whole married life kinda rolling/folding/stuffing the bottom sheets, and then hiding them under the nicely folded top sheet when placed in the closet.
I have just started putting both sets of sheets and one pillowcase in side the second pillow case, it looks kinda neat, the sets stay together, and you can't see how the sheets are folded :)

But I still wonder - is there a proper way to fold the bottom sheet?

take one end of the fitted sheet with your hand inside the corner and do the same with the other end. slide one corner into the other, do the same for the 2 other corners, then take the 2 folded corners and slide them together. then fold the sheet neatly from there!! hope that helped.

What she said.

Except that once the sheet is folded in half, I like to fold it in thirds (round ends in) to keep it from looking too frumpy. Don't know if that's the "proper" way though. ;)

goggle it, there are even pictures for you...better yet, don't change the sheets, just keep them all on your mattress and rotate...they take up less cupboard space!

We do the "roll and stuff" method too, but I like the idea of putting them inside of the pillow cases. Keeps everything together and probably takes up less space that way.

I didn't have a clue either till I read all these messages. I really like the idea of keeping everything together in one of the pillowcases. Think I might try that.

I do the hand in the corner thing, too. But then I still put it under the less lumpy folded top sheet. :-D

I have a book called "Home Comforts" that lists the proper way to fold fitted sheets. I read the instructions and looked at the picture once, and decided some things really don't need to be done the 'right way.'

However, I'm very impressed by your idea to keep sheet sets together in pillow cases. I'm going to try that from now on!

Store both sheets and one pillowcase in the other pillowcase on the shelf. Then they always look nice and your sets are always together.

Of course, I have posted this without reading the comments, so someone else may already have shared that.

This is how I do it.

Take the sheet fresh out of the dryer and gently and carefully wad it into a tight ball and shove it up on the top shelf of your closet.

Then laugh at the people who iron their sheets.
