To Rug Or Not to Rug

I have always wanted rugs for our house, but I have never (and still!) don't really know what size, style or color to buy - there are too many options! And they aren't cheap. It'd be a shame to spend so much on one only to discover a few months later that it really wasn't as nice as I'd thought.

Last week I was in Target and they had these door mats on clearance for $3.50! I picked up three of them for our back porch and I just love how cheery they are. We have three doors on our back porch - two leading outside and one leading inside, in case you were trying to figure out why I'd bought three mats!

Having bought these mats they've got me thinking about rugs again... I would really love to venture out of my non-rug-ness look I've got going on and find some fabulous rugs for our home. But then I start thinking maybe I wouldn't like the rug look. I'm having commitment issues.

Do you rug? Do you like it?

Frugal Fashionista

I am so excited! A Frugal Fashionista Fashion Show showing casing none other than Thrift Store and Yard Sale finds! Jen is hosting it, so head on over to see her finds as well as everyone else who has linked up!

I couldn't decide if I wanted to show you my clothes or the boys clothes. I had decided on the boys clothes, but then remembered the baby is still napping so I couldn't get any clothes from their room. So by default I have to show you my clothes!

I got this great American Eagle sweater for $1. I just love the color - kind of a gray green color.
(*Ahem* I am not that skinny. I tie any belts that come with clothes tightly around them to keep my toddler from snatching them from my closet.)

This jacket was .50 cents, and while it is totally not me, I think it'll be kind of fun over some bright colors. I think it can be fabulous. And if I am wrong, I'll just send it on to Goodwill.

I bought the following two dresses from the same yard sale last summer. I was hugely pregnant and had only the faintest dream of ever fitting into either of the dresses. They were both brand new, from Banana Republic and one had a price sticker of $168 and the other was a little more! (I have taken the tag off that one and can't exactly remember!) I got both dresses for $15.

The brown one now fits me well.

I love the detail.

This one is still waiting to fit. It will. Soon.

Yard Sale Finds - Christmas edition

One of the first yard sales of the season had this little treasure - a hand carved nativity scene. I just LOVE it! It was $1 and is so cute I want to keep it up year round. Paul doesn't think it's that cute. In fact I don't think he thinks it is cute at all. But he is a good man and will humor my love for it, so long as I will only put it up somewhere in the November-January months. =)

Check out the detail on the wisemen - they've got whiskers!

I also really like the unexpected cheek colors - greens and blues and purples!

The other Christmas treasure I picked up - and one I don't mind waiting til the Christmas season to use!! - is this tree shaped plate stand. I think it'll be adorable with plates the same shade as the outline (even though it looks black in the picture, it is really green!) and then have white cookies on it.
Or have white plates and green snacks on it. Or...
So many options!

I paid $2 for this at the local thrift store.
When I asked Paul what he thought of this he said "Well, I think I should build a shed outback to hold your seasonal stuff." I think he was graciously telling me to stop buying Christmas stuff in April. :)

And I'll confess - I was humming Christmas carols as I wrote this post.
